Introduction to Heritage Site
The building was renovated in 2000. It combines Western and Chinese architectural styles. The choice of the building material and the detailed decorations integrate local Xiamen elements. The exterior walls use plain red bricks with lime jointing. The plain red bricks, plastered pilasters in the corner, plastered window casings and coping stones of railings provide strong color and texture contrast. The architectural details are rich. Corner posts, the parapet wall and the cornices are distinctive. The corner posts are of the Ionic order. The octagonal room brings out the vividness of the building. The building presents a strong three-dimensional effect, which makes the building look dignified and elegant.
