Introduction to Heritage Site
Yangyuan Villa, originally a residential house for the owner of Yang Family Mansion, was later transferred. The gatehouse is mainly of Western style with its top decorated with the sun pattern, traditional Chinese cloud-and-thunder patterns and patterns of Western vibes. The interior gate of the arch-shaped gatehouse is a traditional rectangular granite stone gate in the Minnan region with the lintel writing "Yangyuan Villa". The main building combines Chinese and Western styles, demonstrating architectural features of Southeast Asia. Counting the damp-proof layer, it contains three stories and is 25 meters in breadth and 28 meters in depth. With a rectangular plane, the front elevation of the second and third floors are set with connected arched corridors and the colonnades are built with red bricks. The two sides of the gate are set with steps leading to the second floor. What makes the building distinctive is that its two sides are supported by ancient Greek-style Ionic granite columns. The exterior walls are delicately built with close-joint red bricks. The handling of the arched corridor in the front elevation, the eaves and the stratification lines shows rich details and a strong three-dimensional sense. The styles of the doors, windows and rails also integrate local Chinese features.
