Introduction to Heritage Site
Situated in Kulangsu Hero Rock. Wang Xingfang (1911-1949), a native of Weixian (currently Weifang City), Shandong, joined the Eighth Route Army and the Communist Party of China in 1939. He participated in the Huaihai Campaign, the Yangtze River Crossing campaign and battles to liberate Jinan, Shanghai and Fuzhou, serving ranks from squad leader to regiment chief. On October 15, 1949 in the Kulangsu battle to liberate Xiamen, he was struck by the gunfire and died at merely 38. Chief of Staff Zhang Qinyi also died in this battle. The original tomb was a joint-burial tomb in Dadeji, Kulangsu, with the tombstone writing ""Sacrifice for the noble cause, long live the name"". The tomb was later moved to the Bright Moon Garden and relocated to Hero Rock in 1999. The current tomb was a square platform built with granite and Indian red granite. The upper base of the tomb is 1.1 meters long and 0.7 meters wide, the lower base 1.5 meters long, 0.9 meters wide, and 0.4 meters high.
