Introduction to Heritage Site

Residence of Missionary of English Presbyterian Mission was once the residence of James Sader, an evangelist of the English Presbyterian Mission. Evangelist James Sader arrived in Xiamen in 1850 and cofounded the English Presbyterian Mission with William C. Burns. In 1898, he established Kulangsu Yinghua Academy. Built in the late 1890s and aligned southwest-northeast, the academy is a two-story colonial veranda building with an area of about 460 square meters. With a hip roof, the building's exterior is painted red and the verandas adopt a three-centered arch.
